Prevent

Breaking the cycle of addiction...

At the Hancock County Addiction Coalition, we know that the best way to end the cycle of drug addiction is to prevent the uptake of substance use in the first place. That’s why our volunteers are dedicated to providing programs and services geared towards helping youth learn about the dangers of substance use, how to avoid external pressures to experiment with drugs and alcohol, and where they can go to find support.

To achieve these objectives, the coalition has helped to sponsor various educational speakers to interact with students from the local junior and senior high schools. They have also partnered with Mental Health Centers of Western Illinois to provide substance abuse and mental health services to the local county junior and senior high schools.

By providing these services, the coalition hopes to ultimately eliminate the harmful grip that illicit substances have held on our communities.
