Educate

The first step to solving a problem is understanding it...

One of the key goals of the coalition is to be an educational resource for the community regarding substance use and addiction. We know that addiction and substance abuse are complex topics that can be easily misunderstood. That’s why our coalition works to provide educational programs and services to keep our local residents up-to-date and empowered to address substance abuse in their communities.

In response to the opioid epidemic and its impact on rural communities, the coalition developed an opioid awareness presentation. The presentation is designed to educate local residents about opioids, the harmful impact they can have, and how we can help stop the spread of opioid addiction.

Another program the coalition has used to help educate the community is the “Hidden in Plain Sight” travel display. This program is used to educate community members and parents about inconspicuous locations in a child’s bedroom that could be used to hide drugs or alcohol. By educating parents on what to look for, we can help local children get the help and support they need more quickly.

If you are interested in working with the coalition to provide any of these educational programs in your organization or community please click on the link below to fill out our interest form.
