Hancock County Addiction Coalition Supports International Overdose Awareness Day

Carthage, IL – The Hancock County Addiction Coalition, in accordance with their mission to Support, Treat, Educate and Prevent addiction in Hancock County, would like to inform the community about International Overdose Awareness Day and its upcoming events.

International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held each year on August 31st. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It is also an opportunity to show support to families and friends by remembering those who have died or had a permanent injury as a result of drug overdose.

The Hancock County Awareness Coalition will be displaying their “Hidden In Plain Sight” display at the 5th annual Overdose Awareness Walk in Canton, IL. At the event, community members will be able to see the “Hidden In Plain Sight” display as well as hear from guest speakers, learn more about substance abuse and participate in the memorial walk.

The “Hidden In Plain Sight” display will also be set up on September 1st in Nauvoo at the Grape Festival and on October 5th at Harvest for Hope at Unity Point Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
